A Romantic Celebration Surrounded by Italian Gardens in Florence
Some weddings feel like stepping into a spring editorial effortless, joyful and filled with light.
Harper & Jonathan’s destination wedding at Villa Merlo Nero in Florence was exactly that: a celebration suspended between Italian elegance and relaxed sophistication, where organic floral design and thoughtful details transformed the villa into a romantic Tuscan dream.
Surrounded by the timeless beauty of Italian gardens and the soft atmosphere of spring in Florence, the couple envisioned a wedding that felt refined yet welcoming, elevated yet naturally spontaneous.
Designed by Arianna Bassi, founder of Biancospino Flowers and wedding designer, the entire celebration embraced a fresh and contemporary aesthetic inspired by color, movement and the effortless beauty of the Italian countryside.
The result was a wedding atmosphere that felt intimate, stylish and quietly unforgettable.
A Villa Defined by Timeless Italian Charm
Nestled in the hills of Florence, Villa Merlo Nero offered the perfect setting for Harper & Jonathan’s wedding weekend.
With its elegant architecture, historic atmosphere and beautifully manicured Italian gardens, the villa naturally balanced sophistication with a relaxed Tuscan spirit.
Rather than creating an overly formal environment, the design approach focused on enhancing the effortless charm of the location itself allowing nature, architecture and floral compositions to coexist harmoniously.
The atmosphere felt romantic and fashion-inspired while remaining warm and deeply inviting for guests.
A Fresh Spring Palette Inspired by Tuscany
For the floral design, Arianna developed a spring-inspired color palette filled with soft yet vibrant tones that reflected the energy of the season.
Delicate shades of butter yellow, blush pink, soft peach, ivory and fresh greens created a joyful and refined visual language throughout the celebration.
The floral arrangements were intentionally designed to feel organic and airy rather than overly structured.
Movement, texture and spontaneity became essential elements of the overall aesthetic giving the impression that the flowers had naturally bloomed into the spaces of the villa.
The palette brought freshness and softness to every moment of the wedding day while maintaining a polished editorial sensibility.
Romantic Floral Centerpieces in Glass Bottles
One of the defining details of the reception styling was the use of floral arrangements displayed in delicate glass bottles across the dinner tables.
The choice created an atmosphere that felt intimate, relaxed and effortlessly elegant.
Rather than traditional large centerpieces, the tablescape embraced smaller floral compositions layered organically among candles and refined mise en place details.
The effect was playful yet sophisticated perfectly aligned with the couple’s vision for a wedding that felt joyful, contemporary and emotionally warm.
Each table felt alive with color, texture and movement, encouraging guests to experience the dinner setting in a natural and immersive way.
Organic Floral Design with an Editorial Spirit
At Biancospino Flowers, floral design is approached as an artistic language capable of shaping atmosphere and emotion.
For Harper & Jonathan’s wedding, every floral composition was designed to feel light, romantic and visually dynamic inspired by the effortless beauty often found in contemporary fashion editorials and luxury destination weddings.
The installations never felt overly rigid or traditional.
Instead, flowers were allowed to move organically through the spaces of Villa Merlo Nero, creating an environment that felt modern, romantic and deeply connected to the surrounding gardens.
The result was a wedding aesthetic that felt timeless while remaining fresh and current.
A Celebration Filled with Lightness & Joy
More than anything, Harper & Jonathan wanted their wedding to feel joyful.
Every design choice from the floral palette to the relaxed reception styling was created to encourage connection, beauty and emotional presence throughout the celebration.
The atmosphere felt elegant without ever becoming distant or overly formal.
Guests moved through the villa surrounded by flowers, candlelight and the soft Tuscan air, immersed in an experience that felt both elevated and deeply personal.
For Arianna Bassi and Biancospino Flowers, this balance between beauty, atmosphere and authenticity is always at the heart of every destination wedding project.
